It was so odd to realize that it’s been 17 years since being there myself. The biggest difference is that the ceremony was held at the Apple Bowl, so no blazing hot packed-to-the-gills auditorium.

I can’t remember which faculty member spoke at ours, but Mr. Benner spoke on Friday night. I can’t say it was very impressive. I guess if he had been one of my teachers or if I was 18 maybe I would feel otherwise.

One of the acts was a band made up of 5 of the graduating seniors that played Europe’s “Final Countdown”. It was horrendous. It was kind of a bummer because overall the ceremony was nice and subdued, and they were such a joke it threatened to turn the whole thing into some sort of comedy act.

Overall I’d give it a 6/10.

8/10 for nostalgia’s sake.

And for the kicker, it’s a hoot to see Kory Kalahar standing up on the podium as the assistant principal, congratulating the little hoodlums for making it through 4 years at WHS. I think I’m gonna go to the 20 year just to get him to smoke some pot and record it for his students
